A MoFA Halt Is Not a DLD Circular
MoFA halted all trade and finance with Iran until further notice. That is not a DLD circular. Check WAM and MoFA — not a WhatsApp discount.
A federal trade-and-finance halt is not a Land Department circular.
WAM, 19 August 2026 printed the English. Afra Al Hameli, Director of the Strategic Communications Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), said all trade, commercial exchanges, and financial transactions with Iran have been halted until further notice. The same body sits on MoFA’s 19 August page. That is the sentence. It is not a DLD circular. It is not a rent print. It is not a reason to rip up an SPA.
Investors: escrow still escrow. If a contractor cites materials, ask for the clause — do not take a WhatsApp. Agents: brief the MoFA sentence, not a panic discount. Do not sell a “Hormuz discount” on a villa. Send clients to WAM and MoFA, not a rumour.
What Al Hameli Actually Said
Three points. We quote the English as WAM printed it. The Arabic primary — WAM Arabic — is datelined أبوظبي في 18 أغسطس / وام /. The English wire is datelined ABU DHABI, 19th August, 2026 (WAM). Same statement. Two datelines. We do not pick a winner. We print both.
- Al Hameli “rejected all allegations regarding the status of the economic relationship between the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
- She reiterated the UAE’s “steadfast commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and regional integration.”
- She underscored that, “in light of regional escalations that undermine regional and international peace and security, all trade, commercial exchanges, and financial transactions with Iran have been halted until further notice.”
She also emphasised that the UAE remains “firmly committed to safeguarding the integrity of the international financial system, in line with international law and the highest global standards.”
MoFA’s English page, dated Wed 19/8/2026, prints the same body. We quote that body. We do not invent a trade volume, a price move, or an insurance rate. MoFA did not print those.
What It Is Not
This is a federal trade and finance halt until further notice. It is not a Dubai Land Department circular. It is not a rent print. It is not a variation. It is not a reason to rip up an SPA.
Escrow is still escrow. A materials claim is a different paper — already written, do not rewrite it here: Villa Claims: Hormuz Is Not a Cheque.
Do not sell a “Hormuz discount” on a villa. A halt is not a price list.
Investor Check
- Open the live WAM English and MoFA URLs. This is a federal trade and finance halt until further notice. It is not a DLD circular.
- Your SPA is still your SPA. Escrow still escrow. If the unit is off-plan, the safety check is still the escrow account: Escrow in Dubai: The Off-Plan Safety Check.
- If a contractor cites materials, ask for the clause — invoices, remaining quantities, the written variation. Do not take a WhatsApp. That test sits on a different paper: Villa Claims: Hormuz Is Not a Cheque.
- If the unit is still on a payment plan, read the instalments against progress, not against a headline: How to Read Dubai Off-Plan Payment Plans.
- MoFA did not print a UAE–Iran trade volume, a $30 billion plan, a villa-price move, an insurance rate, a construction-cost percentage, or “the market dropped.” If a counterpart quotes one of those as if it were this statement, it is not.
Agent Briefing
- Brief the MoFA sentence, not a panic discount. Attribute it: Afra Al Hameli, Director of the Strategic Communications Department at MoFA, via WAM English 19 August (Arabic wire 18 August) and the MoFA page.
- The locked line is: “all trade, commercial exchanges, and financial transactions with Iran have been halted until further notice.” Do not add a volume. Do not add a price.
- Do not sell a “Hormuz discount” on a villa. A halt is not a listing strategy.
- Send clients to WAM and MoFA. Not a group chat. Not a screenshot of a screenshot.
- Keep the MoD missile notes in their own box, with their own WAM URLs. Official sources. Not a price call. Not part of the halt sentence.
When to Walk Away
- Anyone selling a panic discount on the back of this halt.
- Anyone citing a UAE–Iran trade volume, a $30 billion plan, a villa-price move, an insurance rate, or “the market dropped” as if MoFA printed it. MoFA did not.
- Anyone treating a federal trade-and-finance halt as a DLD circular, a rent print, or a reason to rip up an SPA.
- Anyone who will not open the WAM or MoFA URL, and prefers a WhatsApp.
A halt is a halt. It is not a circular. Open the page that printed it.
